Monika Płatek

dr hab. Monika Płatek prof. ucz.

Monika Płatek teaches at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. She is the Head of the Department of Criminology. She also teaches gender studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences. She is part of the group of advisors and counselors to the Prosecutor General for the protection of crime victims. Earlier, during Prof. Andrzej Zoll’s tenure as Ombudsman, she served as the Ombudsman’s plenipotentiary for the protection of the rights of crime victims. She is Honorary President of the Polish Association for Legal Education, which she co-founded while heading it from 1994 to 2009. As an expert on law, human rights and women’s rights, she cooperates with the OSCE, ODIHR, the Council of Europe, EU bodies, the Polish Parliament, and academic and civic organizations. She is also a member of the International Advisory Board of The British Journal of Criminology” and the Editorial Board of ‘Social & Legal Studies.’
